Last night, residents and councillors agreed the Community Council funding for groups in Hoe Street. Three community groups applied, and all were awarded funding for their projects.
The Friends of Wingfield Park bid for funds to renovate sections of the park, including the under-7s play area. They were awarded £5,850.
Walthamstow Village Residents Association are looking to renovate the Town Square on the corner of Eden Road and Orford Road and were awarded £2,862 to re-plant the flower beds.
The Asian Centre Waltham Forest asked for funds to continue their highly successful youth club in the ward and were awarded £3,100.
Congratulations to all three organisations, which work so hard to make our community a better place to live. We look forward to working with them over the next year to deliver their projects.

A number of residents have been in touch with us about the current poor state of Wingfield Park. We have asked officers to clear up the park, and there is also a small amount of capital funding available to improve the area. When we find out about this funding, we will contact residents to listen to their views. We are also working with the local police team to put a stop to anti-social behaviour in the park.
We would like to invite all residents to come to a community meeting on the future of the park. This is taking place on Tuesday 3 August at 6.30pm in the Asian Centre, 18A Orford Road. If you can’t make the meeting, get in touch with one of us beforehand and we can make sure that your views are heard.

Today Mark joined Labour parliamentary candidate Stella Creasy to help out at the NCT nearly new baby clothes sale at the Asian Centre on Orford Road. Hundreds of parents attended the event, raising money for sellers, the National Childbirth Trust and charities. The NCT is a real lifeline for many new parents, and we were proud to support this event in our ward.
