New William Morris Gallery to be spectacular

Visiting the William Morris Gallery - 5 January 2012

We visited the building works at the William Morris Gallery yesterday with the Council Leader, to see how the changes are progressing. The works are on course to be finished by July 2012, and are looking great. The Gallery will show off the house much more than previously, and the gardens will be a fantastic place to bring the family, very close to Hoe Street ward.

The council is part-funding the works, alongside charitable foundations and the Lottery. Hopefully everyone will have the chance to visit the Gallery in the summer (which feels a long way off in these cold January days!).

What buildings should be locally listed?

October 17th, 2011 by Mark Rusling

The council keeps a list of local buildings of architectural and historical interest. These are the buildings that contribute to the character of our borough and make Waltham Forest a better place to live.

Until 25 November, the council is consulting on proposed changes to the locally listed buildings list. You can find details here. We will be feeding our views in – please do the same!

Calling all film producers!

May 12th, 2011 by Mark Rusling

Do you want to see your name in lights and your film exhibited in an international film festival? Then contact the Walthamstow International Film Festival! The festival takes place in September, and features short films made by people like you. The films are exhibited on Grove Road, in our ward.

The organisers are particularly looking to hear from youth organisations or creative groups. If you fancy a shot at fame, then contact the organisers.
