We are being forced to take nearly £30 million out of this year’s budget by the government. However, we have agreed some areas where we will grow the budget to improve the service we offer you – street cleaning is one of those.
These streets will go from being cleaned twice a week, to three times a week: East Avenue, West Avenue, Stainforth Road and Pembroke Road. Wingfield Road will go from once a week to twice a week and Randolph Road will go from once a week to three times a week.
If you live on these roads, and you don’t think that this is happening, let us know and we’ll chase it up for you.

Parking is the key issue on East Avenue, Folkestone Road, St Mary’s Road and Stainforth Road. We were out talking to residents on those roads yesterday and that’s what everyone was telling us.
We are looking into ways of making the parking situation easier for you – maybe residents’ parking zones at different times of day? We have also pledged to reduce the price of residents’ parking permits from £45 to £30 and to hand out free visitors’ permits for certain groups of residents. We are listening to you – and the only way to do this is by knocking on doors to speak with residents. Merely handing out leaflets is no substitute for this. Let us know if there is more we could do.

This afternoon we joined the Qadria Jalani Mosque Milad Un-Nabi Procession to celebrate the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad. The mosque, based in East Road in Hoe Street ward, put on a fantastic event, with people joining Walthamstow residents from all over the UK. The march ended at the Walthamstow Assembly Hall, where the guest of honour was the Foreign Secretary, David Miliband MP. Congratulations to the organisers!
