Waltham Forest is looking for 120 volunteers to welcome the world to our borough during the Olympic and Paralympic Games next year. You would have to be welcoming and outgoing, be over 16 and be willing to contribute 20 hours of your time during the Games. If this sounds like you, get in touch for more information. You have until 14 October to apply, which you can do online. Best of luck!

We are proud to be an Olympic borough and, to celebrate that, from December Waltham Forest will be hosting the ‘Big 6′. These are free events across the borough, from December 2011 through to September 2012, offering a range of activities from film and music to sporting events.

In exciting news, it has been announced that the Olympic torch relay will hit Walthamstow on the afternoon and evening of Saturday 21 July 2012. The torch will stay overnight before heading to Bexley the next day. The opening ceremony at the Olympic Stadium in Stratford takes place on Friday 27 July.

The Olympic Games Organising Committee is looking for 8000 volunteers to be London Ambassadors during the 2012 Games. To register, click here. Application details will be sent out in January.
To be eligible, you must be:
- Over 16 on 1 January 2012.
- Able to volunteer for at least 5 hours a day for 6 consecutive days between 20 July and 10 September 2012.
- Able to attend an interview and 3 training days between now and the start of the Games.
We’d love to see some Hoe Street residents acting as London Ambassadors during the Games, so get applying!
